Sunshot Photography Club is a hobby photo club of the Sunlife of Canada, Philippines. The concept of forming a photo club started in June 2007. On August 2007, the club was born. The name ‘Sunshot’ came from a ‘Name that club’ contest from the club members. It is composed of company employees, former employees and company agents. 75% of the members use point and shoot cameras while the rest are SLR users.
The club meets every second Wednesday of the month from 6-9pm at the company head office at the Enterprise Towers in Makati City. From January to November, the club members compete in a themed photo contest where in the Photo of the Month and Photographer of the Month winners awarded with certificates. December is celebrated with the Christmas party and awarding of the top 3 Photographers of the year.
The club also invites photography experts from the various fields of the industry to give members lectures and tips on how to develop and appreciate photography. Most notable lecturers include George Tapan, Jun Miranda, Ibarra and Dail Deri, Vic Sison and Nino Carandang.
Sunshot also enjoys photography outdoors by having out of town trips. To date, the club has ventured into the Taal Crater (2007) and Mt. Pinatubo (2008).
Sunshot is also very active in company related activities providing photo coverages on a lot of its company sponsored activities.
